(4/52) January Project Life

Well, I did great with my digital Project Life for the first half of 2014, but then fell behind and never caught up. (Still holding out hope that I will whip those pages up and get the books printed this year!)

I'm determined to continue to document the details and memories of our daily life this year, but I want to make sure I have a doable strategy. Today I spent part of our snow day (yay!) organizing photos from my phone into the Collect photo app and adding short captions. Then I imported the Collect cards into the Project Life app, and used the new Project52 card kit. I'm happy with how they came out, and it was SO quick!

I'm not sure yet if I will have a 2 page spread for each week. I'd still like to include journaling cards for longer stories,  and notes about the stuff we are reading/loving/listening to, etc. Also, I don't want to abandon taking and printing photos from my big camera! I think I will keep these pages consistent in this style, and then vary what I include on the facing pages.

You can keep up with my Project Life pages on Flickr. Thanks!

Project Life 2013 - DONE.

Pretty excited that I have completed all the pages for my weekly digital Project Life album. We had two extra days of vacation thanks to the frigid temps this week, so I spent lots of time snuggled up on the couch with my laptop.

I'll be printing the last half of 2013 in a 12x12" book from Blurb, to go with my first half of 2013, and my two 2012 albums. Now to continue on in the new year!

If you'd like to see all my pages from this year, you can check out my Flickr set.

Project Life 2014!

I'm excited to embark on another year of documenting our family's adventures and everyday life with my digital Project Life pages. Here is my title page for 2014, using the "Start Here" kit by Splendid Fiins (20% off this weekend). I still have about 6 weeks of 2013 to finish up - I got distracted by working on a paper pocket scrapping project for December Daily. Hopefully I'll be able to share both of those here soon. Happy New Year!

Project Life week 47

Well, I left a few recent weeks behind (I'll go back and catch up soon). But I did finish the pages I missed at the end of 2012 and ordered the 12x12 book from Blurb. It is SO fun to look back at the spreads in a real book format. Looking forward to ordering part two of 2013 at the end of the year.

Splendid Fiins has a new December paper and card kit on sale this weekend. Super cute journaling cards and patterns, as always. Go check it out!

Project Life week 42

Here are my pages for this week, using Splendid Fiin's new November kit. Great color combos, as always!

But that's not all I made this week, I also carved a Yoda jack-o-lantern! :)

Project Life weeks 15 & 16

week 15, pg1

week 15, pg 2
week 16, pg 1
week 16, pg 2
Finished up two weeks of my digital Project Life pages this weekend. Everything from Easter, to play dates, to 4th birthday party prep, to beetle painting at preschool, to my birthday this week. As always, so glad to be collecting all these moments of our lives.

Project Life - week 13

Here's my latest 2 pg. spread. I was a little low on photos, and I didn't have something to represent each day of the week. I do like how it ended up with half of each page focused on one event - the left side of the first page is about Rachel's baby shower, and the right side of the second page is about an impromptu playground stop we made on Friday afternoon.
If you'd like to see the images in a larger format, you can click through to Flickr. I was browsing through my Project Life set on Flickr and getting super excited imagining how awesome it will be to get a photobook at the end of 2012!

Project Life - week 6

This week's spread is a little bit blah. Kind of like our week! We were all sick with this and that and the whole week was spent mostly at home, trying to get better. I didn't take many photos, so I just used what I had and wrote a little bit about the week of sickness. Looking forward to a more cheerful (and hopefully healthy) week ahead!

Project Life - week 5

Hello, week 5! This week I did less journaling, and just let the photos speak for themselves. Love that speech bubble card from the PL Cobalt digital kit. Also love how the Everyday papers by Robyn work so well with the Cobalt kit.

Here's something great about working with the digital page templates - I liked the layout of template B, but I had 3 horizontal and 3 vertical photos I wanted to include from this week. So I just rotated the template 90 degrees in PSE and used it for my 2nd page of the spread! Easy!

I covered the faces of Lachlan's classmates in the bottom corner to protect their privacy. They won't have a giant orange rectangle over their faces in the final album. Had to include that photo from their "beach day" at Preucil on Friday. Fun stuff.

Better get back to my sick kiddos. Kenley is getting over another ear infection, and Lachlan is hopefully at the end of a long (or back to back?) cold. Sometimes it feels like we'll never all be healthy at the same time!

Project Life - week 4

Loved playing with my digital supplies on this week's Project Life! I've settled in to a weekly pattern. I download my photos and select photos for the project on Saturday night. Then I work in Photoshop Elements to make the pages off and on through Sunday. Then it seems I need a few minutes to finish them up and post them here on Monday mornings while Lachlan is at preschool.

Project Life - Week 3

Hmm, it appears that my blog has become "all Project Life, all the time". I promise I'll be back this week with a couple things unrelated to Project Life (all though isn't everything related to Project Life?)

I enjoyed using Cathy Zielske's new "Tiny Templates" this week. They work great for putting my Instagram photos into the pages, and for getting multiple photos from one event included. We had a pretty quiet week, since I was down and out with a cold, and the wintry weather enouraged us to stay home. I used the journaling cards to tell more in depth stories about a few days - rather than creating a "weekly roundup" list like I did last week. I love how flexible it can be - and that I can decide which page layouts I want to use as I look back at the photos I collected over the seven days. Definitely still loving this project, and also feeling inspired to get back to paper scrapping soon. I have a stack of photos and a January Studio Calico kit calling my name!

Project Life - week 2

Kept it simple this week. I wrote the journaling in a list format and left the rest of the two page spread to photos. I narrowed down my week of Instagram photos to just four so that I could use the Template Design E.

I realized that since I am selecting photos weekly, this project is helping me keep my digital photos edited and organized. A nice perk that I had not anticipated!

Project Life - week 1

I finished my first 3 pages for my 2012 digital Project Life book today! Even though there are so many inspirational paper versions on the web right now, I think digital is going to be the right choice for me. I don't have to worry about printing photos or keeping my supplies organized (other than in a folder on my MacBook). Once I get better at manuvering in Photoshop Elements, the pages will come together even quicker than they did this week.
I am not planning to include a photo-a-day on my pages. Instead, I'm considering them a week-at-a-glance. I'm hoping to make my pages on Sundays, then post them here on the blog Mondays. At the end of the year, I'll have the layouts printed in a photo book - most likely through Blurb. Let me know if you're also doing Project Life! I think it is a great idea and a fun and easy way to capture all those little moments we would otherwise forget.
