More photos from my shower are on my flickr.

my first Amy Butler bag

I wanted to bring a special gift for this special lady who hosted my baby shower last Sunday. So, I decided to make her a little tote bag for carrying this and that. I chose an Amy Butler pattern called Chelsea bags.
I love that the design is reversible, and how could you not love the yummy Amy Butler fabric?!
I picked out the pattern and fabric at a great new shop in Iowa City called Home Ec Workshop. (their website is still under construction). They have a great selection of yarn, fabric, ribbon, and crafting books. Also a counter where you can buy tea and sweets *and* they will be having classes and work sessions in their classroom. I absolutely love this new addition to our local shopping choices.

A week in photos

It was a crazy week of weather and missed school, but still, seems like a busy busy one. I worked on the nursery window coverings and washing up baby gear, writing thank you notes and making a special thank you gift. This afternoon I headed over to Des Moines for the weekend - and another special baby shower on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing everyone here in town!

Baby Fun!

This afternoon was my first baby shower - so exciting! You could say that the weather was far from ideal for a party, but my gracious host stuck with the plan and some of my coworkers and students' mothers braved the snow and wind to come help me celebrate. It was so sweet and touching.

This morning I added a couple pages to my pregnancy mini-album. I have been working on this for awhile now. Thinking of it as a journal for my thoughts and a record of things that are happening during this exciting time. It is manageable because I am making the pages about 4"x6" and adding them one at a time to a book bound with binder rings. If you'd like to see all the pages I have made so far, you can check them out here.

Have a great week! Here's hoping the snow will lay off for awhile!

Sent from my iPhone

hello there

My, how time flies in the blogosphere. Can't imagine what I've been up to for the past week. Well, mostly trying to stay warm, working, putting together Valentine cards & packages for friends, family, and students, and making a little jewelry. Now I'm hoping to get back to that painting project from last week, and make my pages for Overlooked and Paper Adventure. Feeling a little sad that my sweetie will be away for Valentine's Day, but here are some sweet ideas for your sweetie (and some extra sweet blogs to read) if you're looking...

Snow Day WIP

Ummm... big blizzard weather here in I.C. I'm pretty sure my car couldn't make it out of the driveway even if I wanted to! So, trying to be at least a little productive today. Made some new earrings for the shop and started an art piece for the nursery that I've been mulling over for awhile now. I have a 3 pane window and I am going to paint 3 sections on paper and mount them on the back of the window to show through the panes. The inspiration is from the farm-themed quilt bedding. You can see more work in progress photos here. And hopefully I will be able to share more of it soon!
