One month already

Wow, it's impossible to believe that a month has flown by already. L is doing great and weighing in at 11 lbs. already. A healthy, strong, happy boy! We're more in love every day.

I had two pieces of exciting news related to this Tummy Time layout. First, it was featured in the SIS Catwalk last week - that's never happened to me before. So cool to be in such great company with the talented artists there. Then, the Scrapjacked gals chose it as one of their favs for this round. I give a big amount of credit to Kate's great inspiration page and the other credit goes to my extremely cute baby.

Paper 08 pages

Spent a few minutes catching up on my Paper Adventure pages. I love Elise's open-ended prompts and the way my 4" x 8" pages can come together so quickly. Most of my pages lately have been reflections on becoming a new mom, which I am happy to be getting down on paper.
You can see the backsides on Flickr. Happy holiday weekend!

Small accomplishments

I am starting to feel a little bit more myself again now after a few weeks of being on Lachlan's schedule. Although I'll never really be the same person I was before he arrived. ;) I'm trying to accomplish at least something small each time he takes a nap throughout the day... some laundry, dishes, or another thing that's on my to-do list. Yesterday I actually baked an apple pie! I don't think I've ever baked a pie from scratch before, so there's something exciting! I saw the recipe on Black Apple's blog and was inspired. It was actually quite easy and it smelled delicious when it was baking.

I also took some time to re-pot one of the beautiful arrangements we received after he was born. Now I have 5 very nice houseplants to add to our collection.

We've gotten so many lovely and thoughtful gifts for baby, and I've been making little batches of cards to send back our thanks. Now I just have to get out and buy some stamps to mail them!

new scrapping and shopping

Thought I would post some fun new stuff from around here. We are still doing great. I can't believe how fast the days go now that I am spending them with little Lachlan. This afternoon I took him up to the loft and worked on some layouts - I have so many ideas about photos and stories I want to record and he's not even 3 weeks old yet!I recently made a couple Etsy purchases - these sweet sock monkey booties are from Maya Elise Boutique and the necklace for me was made custom by Bella Button Designs. And they're both Iowa Etsians, whuch is nice.

Yesterday I took L up into the loft to work on some scrapping pages. I have so many photos and stories I want to record already! This page was inspired by this weeks Scrapjacked challenge.

First Mother's Day

We had a wonderful first Mother's Day here in Iowa City. My family met up at our house - and Bill's family came over to join us for lunch. Lachlan slept through most of the festivities, but everyone agreed he has already changed so much in his first two (!!) weeks of life. It was very nice to have everyone together... I know I will remember my first Mother's Day for a long, long time.

Some of you probably saw on our birth announcements that I've set up a blog/photo page just for baby Lachlan. I'm using the iWeb program on my Mac, which makes everything so easy. I also like that it is password protected, so we will keep it a little more private. If you are a friend that wants to know the password, please just drop me an email and I will give it to you. This space will continue to be for posts about my crafty and scrapbooking pursuits, although I'm sure an occasional baby photo will be sneaking in. :)

Lachlan's favorite pose

Here's our little cutie with his legs scrunched up - just how I
imagine they were when he was still inside me. We're all doing very
well. He's nursing well and often and we're doing lots of snuggling.
Mom is sleeping fine between feedings at night and last night we had a
family bath event. Cleo is getting more comfortable with the whole
idea and is starting to venture closer to Lachlan. We've even been out
on a few adventures - to Fareway and Target, and to visit the girls at
Reminisce. Time passes much differently now... Thanks to everyone for
your sweet calls and emails.

a very special photo shoot

On Sunday, Shelley came over to take photos of Lachlan and our family. She even got a few of the new grandma who was getting ready to head home. You would never know that it was her first baby shoot - she was so great and patient with us. And just look at these gorgeous photos! Shelley has more in her families folder. Thank you sooo much Shelley - we will treasure these!

One week today

It's impossible a week has passed already. Lachlan just had his first
Dr. appointment and passed with flying colors. He's a healthy, strong
boy!

Our first walk

Here's your Lachlan fix for the day! We went for a walk in the beautiful may day weather and Bill tried out one of our slings. Both baby and daddy enjoyed it! The time is flying by already. Lots of feeding and diaper changing - sleeping for baby, and admiring for mommy. I'm taking lots of photos and having fun emailing them out to friends and family - technology is so great for sharing these fun moments right away. Thanks again to everyone for your well wishes - we are so blessed.
