Trio of Silly Pictures...

... taken at the Apple store on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. They have this great photobooth program where you can take photos of yourself, alter them, and email them to yourself from the store computers. Just me and sis being silly. Other than that, I'm keeping busy with working and teaching classes at Reminisce (kid's camp and a clipboard frame class) this week. Tonight we had a restorative yoga class, which is always such a treat. Basically it means that we are doing more restful poses, holding them for longer, and we work with the lights dimmed. And instead of making me sleepy, I just feel refreshed! Ok - time to go accomplish some art projects!

Weekend in Chicago

We had a fantastically fun weekend in Chicago. This trip was my birthday gift from Bill - we (he and I and my mom and sister) went out to dinner at a swanky restaurant called "Spring", visited the Shedd Aquarium, did lots of shopping, and we saw Wicked! It is a fantastic show - I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos, since they're all on my sister's digital camera, but hopefully she'll send them over soon!

These are just a couple deco pages that I worked on tonight. I hand-carved the sunflower stamp and the photo above I altered for a "green and copper" deco.

Looking ahead to a busy week this week. We're running a Kid's camp at Reminisce - teaching 18 6-10 year olds to scrapbook. Should be interesting! I also have a 2 day leadership workshop to attend at school, and lots of art swaps to finish up. Where has June run off to?

This is a page that I did in a "mustache" themed deco (isn't that a fun theme?). Just posting 'cause I think it is funny. It's been a busy week so far. My mom came over to help me clean and organize my art room, and we planted lots of flowers and house plants. I'm growing salsa ingredients! Tomatoes, cilantro, and peppers. Probably sounds simple to anyone who has a green thumb, but it is a big deal for me!

The yoga retreat over the weekend was *wonderful* and I wasn't even too sore to move the next day! The whole experience challenges my mind and body, plus the retreat center serves delicious home-grown vegetarian food. It makes me want to be more healthy all-around!

Happy Friday!

Did another layout to add to the wedding album last night. These photos are from the day before the big event. I think I look surprisingly calm - but really, I felt pretty calm. The major butterflies didn't hit me until a few hours before the actual wedding. Can you tell I'm related to those other two goofballs next to me?

I also finished this altered clipboard a few days ago. I made a paper quilt type thing by hand-stitching the pieces together (and to a piece of card stock that was behind the whole thing. The photos are all from our spring break trip to St. John in the USVI. It was hard to get a good photo of this, but I'm really happy with how it turned out (especially after the many hours of hand-stitching!).
I'm leaving for a weekend yoga retreat this afternoon. It is at a nature retreat center about 45 min. away. I will be SORE when I get home, but in a really good way. Also looking forward to wandering around the trails and having some quiet time to start a good book.

Summer begins...

So, now that's school's out, I'll have (a little) free time to work on all my various art projects that are in progress. Wendy came over to play Thursday night and I worked on a series of self-portrait atcs, and well as lots of decos which have been vacationing at my house for far too long. I worked on some more on Sunday, so I'm finally getting them moving. I think the hen page is silly - I like how the different papers work together. I used some old text pages that I received in a swap and a painted text page from Melissa's paper swap, as well as the hen that I screen printed a few months ago.
Today was the first big weekday of summer. I enjoyed not setting my alarm, having a leisurely breakfast and coffee, and getting a few loads of laundry done. Then I went out to lunch with a friend and went to school to clean up the disaster of a storage closet that I had shoved everything into during the last week of school. Back home for a stop at the grocery store and dinner with my MIL. Tonight I finished up an altered clipboard that I've been working on for awhile. Sounds pretty boring, now that I read it, but it feels like I accomplished alot!
