Tuesday
Still here - one of those running around, groceries, gas, laundry, haircut kind of days. Snacking on Target brand "Zen Party" trail mix. Whoa, yum. Hope everyone is having a happy Tuesday - hard to be gloomy with all this sunshine, I think!

Week in the Life
I decided to play along with Ali Edwards (along with hundreds of other fans, I'm sure) and document "a week in the life", today through Sunday. I think this week will be great because we have lots of ordinary things in our schedule happening, along with a trip to Philadelphia at the end of the week, with some opportunities to document our travels.
You should play along! My main goal right now is to keep my camera with me as much as possible and to get a self-portrait every day. Maybe I will even get a blog post up every day. Hmmm... There's a Flickr group for sharing, too.
Today I got to stop by and visit Wendy in her lithography classroom (did you know that the Iowa Studio Arts department is all set up in the old Menards because of the flood? Kinda crazy and a little cool at the same time). I am jealous that she's taking a printmaking class - but can't believe how much she has on her plate right now - working on her PhD, teaching UNI Art Ed. students. She is totally brave and of course doing a great job at it all! We decided we're going to have a crafty open house on Saturday, December 6th to sell some of our homemade goodies - so mark your calendars for some good shopping opportunities!

dino in the Wild
We had a little gathering of Reminisce gals (+ my mom) yesterday at our house, and I decided to work on this special gift for my nephew who is having his 5 year old birthday party today.
I made a dinosaur "tooth fairy pillow" that can hold the tooth safely while he waits for the tooth fairy to come pick it up. I remember mine from when I was little - it was a bear with a pocket. I know some people have a little box - Bill says he had a special pillowcase for his regular pillow with a little pocket. So, every time he lost a tooth, he got to put his tooth fairy pillowcase, and it was a big deal! Fun stuff - those memories really stick with you. I hope that Jake will like this one! I think it turned out mighty cute, especially considered I made it up as I went along!

almost 5 months old
What a sweetie pie... he's learning to grab his feet and pull them up to his mouth... lots of giggling and even more smiling... loving the "jumperoo"...getting better at rolling over and sitting up (supported) all the time... eyeing the kitty & her tail anytime she is close... loves to be outside and on walks (thank goodness for this wonderful weather!). We're loving every minute!

I found out today that my week 10 entry was chosen as one of the week's winners in SIS' Project Catwalk contest. I'm not a very competitive person but it definitely feels good when someone else recognizes your work that way!

Handmade gifts
Been working (during those precious naptime moments) on some handmade gifties for special people. This pouch was a thank you gift for a friend - I used this tutorial. My first zippered item! Pretty intimidating - it wasn't as bad as I thought, but the first time I sewed too close to the zip and the fabric got jammed up.
Then I worked on these potholders for a housewarming gift. I had a chance to use up some yummy scraps and discovered that there is a special batting that is heat-insulated so that they will actually be useable.

sweet kittens
So we had a wonderful visit to Des Moines this past weekend (while Daddy was in New Orleans at a Bachelor party - much fun was had and everyone came home safe, so that's a good thing!) and one of the highlights was meeting the itty bitty kitties. They are a little over 2 weeks old, and have just opened their eyes and started to develop little personalities. There's nothing quite like a little kitten meow & purr - not to mention the itty bitty hiss that they gave the dog!
I believe one or two are still up for grabs - so let me know if you are in the market for a sweet kitten or two!

Plum fever
We were surprised and delighted to find out that we have a couple plum trees in our yard! We've been picking and picking and I even made a plum tart. Found a recipe online and added some blueberries - it is so easy and delicious. I would have eaten the whole thing myself - luckily the ladies at Preucil helped me gobble it up.

New layouts and a new trick
Here's my take on the latest Scrapjacked challenge - I wanted to include lots of photos from our trip to Colorado, so this worked perfectly.
And a layout for the Project Catwalk contest at SIS - a silly one about Lachlan's nicknames.
And... he's rolling over! Not 100% accurate yet, but he definitely has the idea - check the video.
